Kravchenko V. The policy of France in the field of security and defense (1994-2008)

The dissertation is devoted to coverage of new French military principles development and implementation process in terms of systemic change and geopolitical transformation of the complex security challenges after the end of the Cold war. In the study, a comprehensive analysis of French policy in security and defense fields in 1994-2008 years is carried out. The author has determined the reasons for transforming the basis of security policy, reform of the defense sector. Origin of modern neo-Gaullist model is determined in the frames of French defense policy, which is both influenced by the national strategic culture, as well as by numerous external factors. The dissertation study analyzed qualitative and quantitative changes, which the French army proceeded as a result of reforms in the 1990s - 2000s. The vectors of the post-bipolar defense doctrine of the Fifth Republic were outlined. In research there are consequences of security-related transformations and their influence on state foreign policy, its geopolitical position and weight in the world analyzed. Directions of dissertation research did not find the proper illumination in domestic and foreign scientific literature.
