The thesis devoted to scientific and technical task better tractive-speed characteristics, fuel efficiency and environmental performance of vehicles in cross-country performance by a rational choice of energy installations and design parameters of transmission. The model of the system "cross-country vehicle" was designed and the systematization of design schemes cross-country vehicle that allows for analysis and synthesis of both existing and future design schemes cross-country vehicle was done. The method of evaluation and choice of energy installations for cross-country vehicle to the criteria tractive-speed characteristics, the efficiency of fuel use and the level of pollution in view of the design parameters of transmission for a given permeability, based on the mathematical model of the "cross-country vehicle" to determine the tractive-speed characteristics, fuel economy and emissions of pollutants in the combined driving cycle, simulating the operating modes of the cross-country vehicle has been created. A combined driving cycle which simulates actual operating conditions of cross-country vehicles and combines typical modes of traffic on the roads paved and off-road conditions was offered. A complex of separate, group and integral criteria that allow for a comparative assessment of tractive-speed characteristics, the efficiency of fuel consumption and pollution level cross-country vehicle and justify choice of energy installations for them was designed.
