Essay

It is shown for the first time that at heating under the conditions of continuously applied tensile loads MF develop plastic strain, the degree of which changes non-monotonically with temperature. It is established that there exist two temperature intervals of intensive plastic strain: high-temperature and low-temperature. Low-temperature interval is related to transformational superplasticity, which is due to phase transformations, and high-temperature interval - to structural superplasticity accompanied by considerable changes of foil microstructure. In the case of difficult-to-deform alloy Al + 5 wt.%Mg strengthened by Al2O3 particles it is shown that temperature conditions required to make permanent joints of composite material by pressure welding through an interlayer based on Al/Cu MF, correlate with temperatures, at which realization of structural superplasticity is possible in such foils.
