Essay

Object - direct current machines for "generator-motor" electric drives. The purpose - perfecting of direct current machines commutator unit diagnosing by developing new method and way to detect changes of commutator insulation resistanse, commutator bars shorting, brush displacement from neutral and decrease of brush pressure to commutator's surface to prevent further damage to the direct current machines. Methods - theoretical (research of electromagnetic and electromechanical characteristics and processes in brush-commutator units of direct current machines, by mathematical modelling of differential equations for equivalent circuit of direct current machine, taking into account processes of commutation in brush-commutator unit) and experimental (measurement of current and voltage signals of direct current machine armature in laboratory, using methods of experimental planning theory, correllation and regression analysis, spectral analysis of the fast Fourier Transform). Novelty consists in further development of theoretical basics of detecting faults in direct current machines commutators, based on the values of amplitude spectres of armature current and voltage. Results - methodology and principles of technical diagnosing systems realisation are advised to use for exploitation organisations for early detecting of direct current machines commutators faults of important electric drives for reducing the cost of repairs of machinery and recovery processes. Industry is mining, excavators, electrical transport.
