The research of biological and ecological peculiarities of Hydrangea L. genus, in particular, H. arborescens L., H. arborescens 'Grandiflora' Rehd., H. arborescens 'Sterilis' Torr.et Gr., H. aspera 'Macrophylla' Hemsl., H. bretsсhneideri Dipp., H. macrophylla (Thunb.) DC., H. macrophylla 'Alba', H. macrophylla 'Normalis' Wils., H. paniculata Sieb., H. paniculata 'Grandiflora' Sieb., H. paniculata 'Limelight', H. petiolaris Sieb. et Zucc., H. serrata (Thunb.) DC. 'Bluebird ', H. serrata (Thunb.) DC. 'Imperatrise Eugenie' in Kyiv. The species composition of the genus Hydrangea L., which occurs in ornamental plantations and collection of botanical gardens were determined and analyzed. Seasonal rhythm of growth and development of hydrangeas and their consistency with the climatic conditions of Kyiv were investigated. In the course of phenological observations the amount of heat - the sum of positive temperatures (above +0 °C) required for the early growing season of plants and the amount of effective temperatures (than +5 °C) required to start the main phenological phases, as well as reproductive ability, especially flowering and fruiting were determined. The matter of hydrangeas stability to adverse environmental factors such as winter, frost, drought and heat resistance were introduced. The potential of hydrangeas frost resistance was determined by the methods of differential thermal analysis and direct freezing of shoots. Seed and vegetative propagation means were processed. The results of the introduction were generalized and success of species acclimatization and genus Hydrangea L. cultivars in terms of Kyiv was assessed. Comprehensive decorative evaluation was carried out. Hydrangeas peculiarities in the basic compositional elements of landscaping were proposed. High decorative composition solutions with taxon under study were introduced.
