Essay

The thesis is the first specialized research on the content and poetics of Podillya legends and traditional stories. The author has analyzed ethnologic, ethnographic and folkloristic inheritance of researchers of Podillya non-fairy-tale prose during the 19th – the beginning of the 21st cc. The paper highlights regional peculiarities of Podillya folk legends and traditional stories in the context of historical collisions of a certain epoch, underlines how important historical and social themes, plots and motives have been reflected in the given epoch, analyzes them according to specificity of semantic and poetic structure of a certain text.
