Essay

Light induced Freedericksz transition threshold value for increasing and decreasing light intensity (the width of light induced Fredericksz transition hysteresis loop), the parameters of hysteresis existence domain in a nematic liquid crystal cell in dependence on form, confined lateral dimension of incident light beam and boundness of anchoring energy between the director and the cell surface have been investigated. The dependence of orientational instability threshold value and the spatial director distribution in electric field in a nematic liquid crystal cell on the cell linear dimension, amplitude and period of anchoring energy modulation have been investigated.
