Smolina V. Chinese politics of the USA and Taiwanese question, 1949 -1972

The urgent problems connected with Taiwanese question in the context of foreign policy of the USA as to People's Republic of China, especially formation and evolution of Chinese politics of the USA concerning Taiwan and the role of Taiwan in strategic plans of the USA are viewed in the dissertation. The dynamics of the politics of the USA in forming of Taiwanese problem and consequences of American presence in the Pacific zone during the period of 1949 -1972 are comprehensively studied. The special attention in the work is accented on origin of main directions of dialogue between the United States and People's Republic of China. The peculiarities of foreign policy of America are analyzed and the history of appearance of the first republic in East Asia. On the basis of data of scientific literature the author considers not only historiography of these problems, but also components of the Taiwanese question. The important role of the Taiwanese question in Chinese and American relations is underlined. The process of forming and development of American and Chinese relations is researched through works of Ukrainian, Russian and foreign scientists. The analysis of dependence of international and regional security from condition of Taiwanese question and politics of China in relations between Washington, Beijing and Taipei was made. Special attention was devoted to the problem of armaments of Taiwan. The influence of Taiwanese question on the system of interrelations between United States and People's Republic of China are also researched in the period after appearance of new conception of American foreign policy, named "Richard Nixon's doctrine".
