Essay

The Kryvyi Rih Metallurgical Complex slimes are solid precipitations in the form of minor particles formed as a result of sedimentation or filtration of gas-treating facilities liquid effluent of the Complex. They contain more than 50 mineral kinds and varieties of natural and technogene origin. In terms of structure and texture features metallurgical slimes are similar to ferruginous quartzites, but their chemical and mineral content is considerably different. Slimes are valuable iron ore raw material but they contain a lot of injurious constituents variability of slime minerals morphological indexes, their chemical and physical properties have significant influence on the process of concentration and re-utilization of iron containing metallurgical wastes. Results of mineralogical and technological studies have been used as basis for mineralogical grounding development for metallurgical slimes rational flow sheet to obtain high quality iron ore concentrate for sinter production and to reduce technogene waste accumulation.
