Falko S. Military intelligence of Russia in the countries of the Far East (the second half of 19th – the beginning of the 20th century)

The object of study: The dissertation is devoted to complex research of military of intelligence service activity of the Russian Empire in China, Korea and Japan in the middle of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th century. The research was necessitated by the need to synthesize the historical experience of functioning the military intelligence in the period of increasing foreign activity of Russia in East Asia. Methods: common scientific – analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, parallel and comparison, generalization and others. Compare-historical and historic-typological methods, chronological-exploratory method, types of historical descriptions can be added to specially-historical methods too. The object of the research deals with the military intelligence service activity within Russian military Department in East Asia in the defined period. The subject of the research in the process of formation and evolution of the Russian military Department intelligence service activity in China, Korea and Japan. The research considers the following issues: reasons of increasing the intelligence service activities in the Asian countries; peculiarities of functioning of military intelligence under specific conditions of East Asia culture.
