Tykhonenko N. The standardization of herbal drug of Lamiaceae Lindl

For the first time a complex study of herbal drug Origanum vulgare L. (оrеgano), Mentha piperita L. (peppermint), Thymus vulgaris L. (thyme), Thymus serpyllum L. (wild thyme) for the development of draft monographs for the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine (SPU), which harmonized with the European Pharmacopoeia (EP), has been conducted. For herbal drug Origanum vulgare methods of identification have been developed and standardization of quality indices have been determined for the introduction into the draft of the national monograph "Oregano herb"N. Spectrophotometric method for assay of flavonoids in Origanum vulgare herb has been developed and the validation of this method has been conducted. National requirements for standardization of quality indices of herbal drug Mentha piperita and Thymus serpyllum have been experimentally validated and established. For herbal drug Thymus serpyllum the method of identification by TLC has been developed. The introduction to SPU requirements of EP for Origanum onites L. and Origanum vulgare L. subsp. hirtum (Link) Ietsw., Thymus vulgaris L., Thymus zygis L. has been substantiated. Draft monographs "Oregano", "Oregano herb"N, "Peppermint leaf," "Thyme," "Wild thyme," which was introduced to the SPU, have been developed.
