Bachurin L. Working out the way of determining the effective surface energy of rocks for predicting the state of the rock massif

The thesis is dedicated to the justification of the way of determining the effective surface energy (ESE) of rocks, based on the established patterns which characterize the peculiarities of determining the characteristics of crack resistance on the specimens taking into account the defective structure of rocks. The author justified the possibility of determining the characteristics of crack resistance in testing the rocks specimens without artificial cracks or incisions, worked out and justified the new method of determining the effective surface energy of rocks using the disc specimens. The author established patterns characterizing the peculiarities of determining the characteristics of crack resistance on the specimens; justified parameters of the method of determining ESE taking into account the natural defective structure of rocks. The author developed the device for determining ESE which allows to improve the procedure of predicting the outburst of sandstones on ESE. The method of predicting the outburst of sandstones on ESE, improved by the results of the research, has been applied at the mine: State Enterprise "Coal mining company "Krasnolimanskaya".
