Essay

Phase equilibria in the ternary Ti-Dy-{Si,Sn,Al} systems were studied. The new ternary compound in the Ti-Dy-Sn system was found for the first time, its crystal structure was determined. Polymorphic transformation of DyAl2 at ~1200°C was established. The diffusionless phase transformation I-st order in Tі3Sn intermetallic at about 75°C was established for the first time. Comparative analysis of Ті-R-p-element systems was carried. Intermetallic Tі3Sn with nonstochiometric composition has high plasticity at room temperature (15 % at bending, >60 % at compression) and extremely low Young modulus (5 GPa at 75°C).
