Essay

The dissertation examines the development of US-Japan security alliance in the post-Cold War period (1991-2001). On the basis of a wide range sources, done a comprehensive study of the U.S. and Japan security region policy in the Asia-Pacific region, the changes in their approaches to the US-Japan security alliance during the 1990s. Particular attention is paid to the features of East Asian policy of the United States in the 1990s, the expansion of the place and role of East Asia in the foreign policy of the United States and subsequent U.S. decision to develop the US-Japan security alliance in the mid-1990s. It is also shown the influence of deterioration of the geopolitical situation in East Asia to overcome the US-Japanese tensions in the mid-1990s.
