Resting on the foundation of vast array of primary sources and scholarly and political publications, the dissertation studies the US public discussions about the finding of the Washington's optimal Chinese course. Author studies American strategies of building relations with the PRC at the end of XX - beginning of the XXI centuries. Various internal and international factors contributing to the American public discussions about the nation's relations with China and making of G. W. Bush Administration's Chinese course were analyzed.
