Smyshlyayeva D. Pathomorphological peculiarities of placentas in spontaneous and induced multiple pregnancies.

Pathomorphological peculiarities of placentas in spontaneous and induced multiple pregnancies (MP) were investigated. 60 cases of MP were studied: 16 cases of spontaneоus dichorial MP (32 placentas), 14 - spontaneous monochorionic MP (14 placentas), 24 - induced dichorial MP (50 placentas), 6 - induced monochorionic MP (6 placentas) and 20 - monofetal pregnancy with physiologic course (20 placentas). The following methods were used: organometry, histology, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, morphometry and clinico-statistical analysis. Formation of placentary insufficiency in induced MP is caused by hemodynamic impairments, and in spontaneous MP by involutive dystrophic processes. The favourable outcome for the fetuses both in cases of induced and spontaneous pregnancy is a result of structural mechanisms of adaptation and compensation.
