Object of research - process of turning with cutting fluid by carbide cutting tool with PVD-coated. Goal - intensification of the turning process on the basis of function-oriented approach through the rational choice of cutting conditions, cutting fluid and PVD-coating as a function of thermo-mechanical processes in various areas of cutting. Methods: mathematical modeling, based on the laws of the theory of cutting, tribology, thermodynamics, theory of plasticity, continuum mechanics under large deformations using the finite element method; physical modeling and mathematical statistics. Apparatus: dynamometer Kistler 9257B, optical profilometer Wyko NT1100, microscopes Dino-Lite and Neophot 2, digital camera Webbers Myscope. Theoretical and practical results: first established the dependencies of resistance and thermo-mechanical loading at turning carbide cutting tools with PVD-coated on the parameters of the cutting conditions and a complex of cooling and lubricant action of cutting fluid on the level of functional zones of the cutting tool, based on which increased productivity of the process of turning up to 37% without reduce strength and increase the critical loading parameters of tool, and also increased tool life in intensive cutting conditions up to 43%. Results are adopted for implementation in SRL "UNIKOS" and PDC "Donetsk Mine Rescue Equipment Plant", are used in teaching in SHEI "Donetsk National Technical University". Branch - mechanical engineering.
