The dissertation is devoted to covering the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of the Baltic States - the main vector of their foreign policy in the sphere of security and defense, that started after the restoration of their independence. A comprehensive analysis of the integration policy of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in the period covered in 1991-2004 is carried out in the study. The author has analyzed potential alternatives of Euro-Atlantism in the development of security and defense policy of the Baltic States, and the reasons why they were not acceptable. Economic, social and political conditions and peculiarities of the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, as well as the attitude of other European and North American countries on this issue are determined. The dissertation study analyzed the activities of the Baltic States in the field of development of the armed forces and their participation in international peacekeeping processes. The main stages in relations between the Baltic States and North Atlantic Treaty Organization are defined. The consequences of accession of these countries to NATO at the regional level as well as for the complex of Euro-Atlantic structures are considered.
