Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the study of poetic peculiarity of the folk tale of karaites. The research is based on the texts of Crimean karaites' tales, which have been published in folklore editions and transliterated personally by the author of the dissertation, as well as on the author's own field recordings. Interpretative traditions, characteristic to the research of fabulous epic in domestic and foreign folklore, have been clarified. The perspectives of the research in the sphere of karaites' folklore have been outlined. Modifications of compositional framing of fairy, household, satirical tales as well tales about animals have been studied. The paradigms of symbols, images, motives, plots, poetical means of tales of all subgenres have been examined; their dominants have also been determined. The problem of transformation of tales' motives in destans has been elucidated. The parallels of plots, images, and poetical resource have been determined by means of comparative analysis of Crimean-karaites' tales with the ones of Crimean Tatars, Karachay-balkats, Turks, Uzbeks and other nations. This allowed to identify national-distinctive poetical peculiarities of the fabulous prose of karaites, typical of the Turkic folklore tradition.
