Essay

Object of study: The process of improving efficiency of delivering video-information by on-board telecommunication means of aerospace monitoring systems. Subject of research: methods to improve time of video-information delivery for on-board telecommunication means based on technology of image compression. Methods: Theory of performance evaluation for complex systems, theory of optimal reception, filtering, and image identification, structural and combinatorial analysis, information theory and coding, mathematical statistics. Scientific novelty: 1) the first time a model of assessment informativity of images based on combinatorial redundancy reduction in differential representation is proposed; 2) compression technology of image differential representation has been further developed; 3) nonequilibrium position coding has been further developed; 4) the first time compact representation of images presented in differential form through the development of code-numbers for nonequilibrium perforated positional numbers is proposed. Practical results: - processing of images captured with a different resolution in real time is provided; among compression techniques with controlled loss of quality, the smallest processing time is provided for the proposed compression method. The gain in time, on the average, is about two times. - For PSNR=35 dB, compression ratio varies from 8 to 30 times; - the provided gain in compression on ratio compared to JPEG is 30% do50%, compared to JPEG2000 - from 20% to 45%; - in case of controlled quality of recovered images averaged gain in compression ratio is 20%, - the total time to process and transfer images controlled quality loss reduces compared to existing methods (JPEG and JPEG 2000) by , on the average, 1.3 times for highly textured images and, on the average, 1.7 times for non-textured images. - Provides the ability to deliver images in real time. Realized in design works of the Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Field of application: telecommunications.
