Essay

The peculiarities of electrochemical corrosion of phase constituents of wrought aluminium Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys and cast Al-Mg-Si alloys in sodium chloride solutions have been investigated using microcapillary technique. The kinetics of anodic and cathodic processes of corrosive attack of primary intermetallic phases of Mg2Si, Al7Cu2Fe, Al3ScxZr1-x, Al-Cu-Fe phases and surface morphology after anodic polarization have been studied. It has been established that scandium influences the corrosion properties of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys in two ways.
