Essay

The object of the research – the Greek Bosporan poleis in the period of the early Spartoсids’ rule (438–303 BC). The dissertation purpose – definition of the political status of the Bosporan poleis policies in structure of the early Spartoсids’ state, characteristic of their administrative, social and legal organization. The methods: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparison, analogy; historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-typological, historical-system and method of historical periodization. Scientific novelty: the political status of the Bosporan civil communities in the structure of the early Spartoсid state has been studied on the basis of the complex analysis of the literary, epigraphic, numismatic and archaeological sources; early Spartoсid Bosporus had been transformed from the union of the poleis into the territorial state with the elements of the federal structure; Panticapaeum, Nimpheum, Theodosia, Thanagoria, Hermonassa and Gorgippia had the polis status in this period; the traditional political institutes, such as the people meetings, the magistracies and the law courts, were important elements of the Bosporan state system; there were three basic social strata in the Bosporan civil communities, which differed by the property and public status: poor citizens, the middle class and aristocracy; from the point of view of social structure the Bosporus civil communities were similar to other Greek policies of classical epoch, and association processes in the early Spartoсid state only promoted preservation of the traditional social orders; the citizens of the Bosporan poleis possessed some civil rights and obligations in the period of the early Spartoсids’ rule. Practical value of research: the results of research can be used at a spelling of scientific works on a history of Northern Black Sea Coast in the antique period, at study of problems of Ancient Greek statehood of classical and Hellenistic time; by preparation of special courses on a history of Ancient Greece and antique policies of Northern Black Sea Coast; in museum work, and also at creation or updating of sites in the Internet. Sphere of use: higher educational institutions, museum, Internet.
