The thesis deals with the problem of the comprehensively mercenary in the English army during the Hundred Years War (1337-1453). The research identifies and analyzes the system of recruitment in the English army, defines the term "mercenary" for army of the late medieval England. The internal structure of hired troops and their commanders is revealed in the thesis. The knights and the longbowmen were the main components of private retinues, which constituted the army of the kingdom.
