Tsyurupa D. Diagnosis and surgical treatment of meningiomas with sub-supratentorial localization

The dissertation is devoted to the improvement of diagnosis and surgical treatment of sub-supratentorial meningiomas. It is based on the results of surgical treatment of 101 patients with sub-supratentorial meningioma, which were treated in the "Institute of Neurosurgery named after acad. A.P. Romodanov NAMS of Ukraine" in 1988 - 2008 and were operated. This work is a selection of 700 cases of cerebral meningiomas. Among them women - 87, men - 14. The average age of patients was 46 years. There were identified three different groups of patients with of meningiomas with sub-supratentorial localization. Their anatomical and topographical features, clinical manifestations and diagnostic methods were studied. The diagnostic value of each method was assessed. Peculiarities of surgical approaches and methods of tumor removal were studied in different groups. Also the analysis of early and late postoperative period is performed, causes of intra - and postoperative complications were examined.The study results outline the way to improve diagnosis and surgical treatment of sub-supratentorial meningiomas.The main results introduced in neurosurgical practice.
