In the work on the ground of comparative assessment of poetics of Ukrainian and British folk ballad, manifestations of folklorism and folklorisation of ballad songs of Ukrainian and British romantic poets of the end of the ХVІІІth – ХІХth centuries, typology and uniqueness of Ukrainian and British folk and literary ballad are established. Parallels among Ukrainian, British, American ballad-singing lore are outlined. British folk influences on the formation of Ukrainian poetry of the ХІХth century are ascertained.
