The dissertation based on the broad variety of sources and literature compositely researches the peculiarities of the gender relationships evolution in the Middle East of the 20-th - the beginning of the 21-th cc., thoroughly analyzes its spiritual sphere, politic, socio-economic aspects. The author emphasizes on the importance of religion in shaping gender roles in traditional social model. The process of growing fundamentalist political movements and changes in Islamist terrorist activities are studied in the dissertation. Special attention is paid to the role of women in those events. The process of re-islamization of the region and changes in the political sphere in terms of gender relations are studied in the dissertation. Special attention is paid to analyze of masculinity in the Middle East. The author studied the basic social practices that shape gender roles and demonstrates the evolution of family relations in the region. In dissertation analyzed main changes in social-economic development which led to emancipation of women, but in fact men still keeping leader position in society and inside families.
