Zakharchenko S. Competitiveness of Ukrainian regions: estimation, prediction and a mechanism of its increase (according to the methodology of the International Institute for Management Development)

The thesis is devoted to prove that IMD methodology is valid for assessing, analyzing and increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian regions . The author substantiates the theoretical-methodological bases of Ukrainian regions competitiveness: the essential characteristics and levels of identification of market's subjects competition and competitiveness, the peculiarities of competitiveness of countries and regions in the context of globalization, the content of competitiveness in the national and international surveys. The author offers his own method on region competitiveness research which is based on the IMD methodology. The author considers the place of Ukraine and its regions in international rankings of competitiveness, gives factor-specific and integrated assessment of the competitiveness of Ukrainian regions and he groups regions in terms of competitiveness. Considering factor analysis, determinants of regional competitiveness are found. It's important to increase their competitive potential. Strategy, priorities and cluster mechanisms of increasing Ukrainian regions competitiveness in an open economy are proved.
