Essay

The degree of oxygen access to the structure of coal substance is determined by the value of the diffusion coefficient of oxygen in methane that is inversely proportional to methane formation pressure. A new criterion of fire breeding is established that takes account of heat emission from coal to the wall rock, the velocity of oxygen sorption by coal, thickness of a bed, coal voidage and local oxygen concentration at the bed surface. The time of fire breeding of a coal bed (incubation period) is proportional to coal specific heat, the temperature of fire breeding of coal and inversely proportional to heat effect of oxidation, oxygen concentration, voidage of a bed, the constant of velocity of oxygen sorption by coal.
