Essay

Dissertation is dedicated to the examination of features of existence of arc discharge during welding and to the creation of a new integrated quantitative criterion for its stability on the basis of electronic oscillography of physical and technological characteristics of the process. The paper describes the methodological principles of analysis of electronic oscillograms on which new areas were identified that correspond to changes and variations in the characteristics of the plasma arc processes of ignition and extinction of the arc. An automated measuring system was developed for electronic oscillography of the arc, also, provided an installation which eliminates subjective factor during the experiments with welding consumables, and commuted software designed. The study of arc discharge at different electrode materials, gas-slag compositions and methods of welding was committed. Provided detailed description of emergence and existence of the arc discharge and the dynamics of its development. Developed a new comprehensive criterion of arc existence stability, which combines energy and spatial components, and on its basis written the mathematical expressions for calculating the minimum possible welding current to guarantee the existence of a stable arc.
