Essay

The sources and mechanisms of erosion processes near the bottom surface of bluff structures have been comprehensively studied in the work. It was discovered that large-scale horseshoe vortex structures, jets and track vortices forms near models under investigation. Kinematic and dynamic characteristics of vortex motion, as well as geometric parameters of horseshoe vortices and jet streams are achieved. Using experimental studies different recommendations to reduce the erosion processes of a soil near bluff bodies are developed.
