Essay

The dissertation deals with the regularities of development of artificially generated vortex structures in the boundary layer in the presence of centrifugal effects. We consider the unsteady, axisymmetric flow of a viscous incompressible fluid between rotating coaxial cylinders after the sudden stop of the outer cylinder. Regular distribution of vorticity have been used as artificial disturbances. We investigate the secondary instability of the vortices (Eckhaus instability), the development of which leads to a change in the wavelength of the longitudinal vortices.
