Khomenko N. Ukrainian Folk Romance: Genesis of Genre Types.

The thesis focuses on systematic (folkloristic, historical and typological, philological, cultural) research of folk romance. For the first in Ukrainian Folkloristics the object of investigation is cruel romance and the subject is its ontology, genesis and genre peculiarities. Definitions of such categories as "folk romance" (as a genre of Ukrainian folk creativity), "song-romance" and "cruel romance" (as genre varieties) have been specified. The genre genesis and inter-genre modifications have been traced and transformational processes of Russian cruel romances in Ukrainian environment have been studied. Figurative and motif paradigm and peculiarities of poetics of folk romance texts have been characterized.
