Essay

The ternary systems Al-Pd-Ir, Al-Pd-Ru and Al-Cr-Fe were constructed for the first time. The new ternary approximats with cubic structure C2 and hexagonal structure C3 were found. The system Al-Ir was reinvestigated. The new approximats - high-temperature F40 and low-temperature P40 and cubic phases C and C1 were found. Within the homogeneity region of the phase (Al3Pd) four rhombic structural variants were found. The stable decagonal quasicrystalline D3 phase was found for the very first time. It is noted that systems Al-Pd-Fe (Ru, Os) and Al-Pd-Co (Rh, Ir), and systems formed aluminum with two 3d-metals have a tendency to form quasicrystals and their approximants.
