Thesis is dedicated to the study of Biomorphological traits Iris hybrida hort. in the foothill zone of Crimea. The growth rhythms and development of varieties of low, middle and high growing irises are set; dates of the onset and duration of phenological phases, depends on growing conditions and group affiliation. Minimum temperatures are required for early phases of growth and development of the different varieties of irises. The main characteristics of the forming of Iris hybrida hort.are dicyclic and monocyclic shoots with the dominance of xeromorphic traits in the structure of the leaf. There are 12 varieties of groups of low and high growing irises revealed for use in hybridization. They are recommended as pollen donors with 13 varieties as parent forms. Many varieties of low growing irises are highly productive for vegetative propagation. Iris hybrida hort. has shown traits of winter hardiness in the foothill zone of Crimea. This introduces new criteria of evaluation of ornamental and economically-valuable traits. The universal scale developed is based on 3 groups of irises, representing 17 promising varieties for floral arrangements in the region.
