Essay

The antioxidant comparative activity modeling was performed on the basis of the interactions of melatonin hormone (MLT) and enzyme glutathione (GSH) with hydroxyl-radicals and superoxide-anion-radicals, using results of quantum chemical calculations and electrochemical measurements, that allowed to prove the microscopic mechanism of the anti-radical activity of these molecules by the offered scheme of the changes of inter-atomic distances between the "outer" atoms of MLT and GSH antioxidants upon the influence of *ОН and *ОО- radicals, and gave the opportunity to predict a set the most possible active centers of the discussed antioxidants that substantiate their antioxidant activity.
