Essay

The work is aimed to study the biochemical and molecular mechanisms of antitumor activity of Fenugreek and its impact on the growth of various transplantable tumors in experimental animals. First was demonstrated that Fenugreek in vivo shows stronger anticancer properties on hormone-dependent tumors (mammary carcinoma Ca755) compared to hormone-independent tumors. It was found that Fenugreek significantly reduces the number of spontaneous mammary tumors in mice C3H/Sn and increases the life span of animals. For the first time found that Fenugreek itself inhibits growth of both chemotherapy-sensitive and Guerin carcinoma resistant to doxorubicin and cisplatin tumors. It is shown that Fenugreek has antioxidant properties and improves hematological parameters in experimental animals - especially, increases the erythrocytes and hemoglobin level. For the first time found that the inhibition of tumor growth under the influence of Fenugreek is accompanied by a decrease in tumor polyamines - markers of growth and cell proliferation. For the first time found that fenugreek led to increase of level of global DNA methylathion in tumor cells. We found that one of the molecular mechanisms of antitumor action of Fenugreek may be its inhibitory effect on the activation of transcription factor NF-кВ and expression of NF-кВ-dependent genes.
