Balytskyi O. The sociocultural transformation of cities of Bessarabia (XIX-th – the beginning of the XX-th centuries)

Dissertation is the first in historiography comprehensive research of the dynamics of sociocultural development of Bessarabian cities during the period of the XIX-th - the beginning of the XX-th centuries. On the basis of the archival materials, published sources and analysis of literature the changes in the number of cities, their administrative and legal status, the dynamics of urban population and it's social and ethnic structure were traced. The process of formation of educational аnd cultural institutions, the process of formation and development of health and social care organizations were investigated. The role of public and charity organizations in the sociocultural development of Bessarabian cities was defined.
