The object of study is the course and the effectiveness of the knee osteoarthritis (OA) treatment in patients of older age groups; the purpose - to evaluate the efficacy and safety of different types, modes and intake forms of symptomatic slow acting drugs for OA (SYSADOA) in the treatment of knee OA patients older age groups based on the assessment of clinical features of the disease; methods - clinical and orthopedic examination, questionnaire, anthropometric studies, functional testing , statistics; innovation and results - for the first time the age and sex features of clinical gonarthrosis course in patients of older age groups were studied, the impact of the stage, presence of knee OA and anthropometric characteristics on the formation of pain and functional impairment in patients of older age groups was investigated; the efficacy, tolerability and safety of various forms of SYSADOA were studied; the comparative evaluation of the gonarthrosis treatment for older patients was conducted; optimal schemes and treatment courses were defined; the practical recommendations for the SYSADOA treatment in patients of older age groups in gonarthrosis were developed; implementation - into the clinical practice of the department of age-related pathology of the locomotor system "Institute of gerontology named after DF Chebotarev NAMS of Ukraine"; Municipal city clinical hospital № 4 Lviv, Khmelnytsky City Hospital, Kostopil Central Region Hospital , Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital , in the lecture program of the Ukrainian Scientific-Medical Centre of osteoporosis; area of application - therapeutic and diagnostic process of rheumatology and internal medicine departments , research and teaching processes of therapeutic profile departments of medical schools.
