Essay

This thesis is devoted to research of chiral and vibrational effects in carbon nanotubes and their influence on normal and superconducting electron transport in nanojunctions. The novel tunneling phenomena in metalic nanotubes is predicted. It has been determined its impact on the electron transport in phase-coherent systems. Casimir-like force acting on a movable scatterer in normal part of SNS junction is calculated. It is predicted that Josephson current in suspended nanotube-based superconducting junction is thermally enhanced at low temperatures.
