Radchenko K. Psychological Peculiarities of Forming Gender Stereotypes by Mass Media.

The results of investigation on psychological peculiarities for forming gender stereotypes by mass media are given in the dissertation. The basic social-psychological properties of gender stereotypes, mechanisms of its formation, the role of mass media in production and retranslation of gender stereotypes are substantiated. Gender stereotypes of the Ukrainian pedagogical workers are investigated; its connection with the level of mass media's stereotyping, preferring by educationalists, is revealed. The author's correctional programme of gender stereotypes for pedagogical workers is worked out and approved on the teachers. The results of forming experiment confirmed the efficiency of this programme, which is directed to exposure and realization by pedagogical workers meaningfulness of their personality gender prejudices under the influence of mass media in forming and fixing traditional gender stereotypes among the students of general educational establishments. The materials of the dissertation will be useful in educational process of secondary and high schools while studying the problem of gender stereotypes during lessons, trainings etc.
