Lahodzinskyi V. Classical antiquity studies of Myhailo Drahomanov.

The research of classical antiquity studies of Drahomanov is based on archive documents and memoirs, correspondence, newspapers and scientific publications. The early years of Myhailo Drahomanov formation as a classic, his scientific vision of the history of antique Greco-Roman civilization are researched in two main sections of the thesis work. Special focus was on the study of Roman history by Drahomanov, the process of the Republic transition to the Empire. The scientific views of Drahomanov on Ancient Greek historiography, Roman history sense, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire were summed up in the thesis work. The revolutionary element of transformational processes in Rome assessed by Drahomanov, his attitude to the ideas of Th. Mommsen and other coryphaeus of the day, the peculiarities of antique legacy perception in his works are researched. The scientific contribution of Drahomanov into Ukrainian and Russian antique studies is summed up and the value of his scientific works for the research of antique civilization of the day and at the present stage is defined.
