Lebid I. The development of Russian Federation - EU relations in the international security issues during 1992-2010

The author conducts a comprehensive research of EU – Russia relations in international security issues during 1992-2010, particularly in its non-traditional dimension. Ukrainian, Russian, European and American historiography, source base and methodological foundations of studied problem were analyzed. The author observes the historical background, dynamics, the main tendencies and peculiarities of the dialogue between the Russian Federation and the EU. The considered legal and institutional framework were studied and generalized. The author determined the main directions of the EU-Russia cooperation such as the dialogue about the border and illegally immigration questions, the struggle against international terrorism, drug and human beings trafficking, the ecological cooperation and interaction in outer space. The author's model of periodization was proposed. The main forms of the dialogue in these areas, as conclusion of determined agreements on financial and legal issues, the consulting mechanism, advanced trainings and education, tactical exercises and staff exchange, joint actions, were characterized, basing on the different document materials. Interaction between the Russian Federation and the European Union were considered as an integral part of the international relation system at the turn of the 20th and 21th centuries.
