Kirpa I. Stereotactic biopsy in diagnostics and treatment of supratentorial neoplasms

The thesis deals with results improving of diagnostics and treatment of patients with supratentorial neoplasms of the brain through developing new and improving existing stereotactic techniques. The comparative analysis of frame-based and frameless stereotactic biopsy, including incidence of complications, was done, indications for their differential use were clarified. Place of tissue samples taking from pathological focus at stereotactic biopsy was determined according to preoperative neuroimaging data. Informative results of stereotactic biopsy, their compliance to histological examination of surgical specimens in patients with brain tumors were defined. The technique of stereotactic biopsy and surgical treatment of brain tumors with cystic component were improved.
