Essay

The thesis deals with solution of the actual scientific problem of the role of signaling enzyme ERN1 in regulation of expression of key glucose metabolism genes in tumor cells, and influence on the rate of proliferation of transformed cells. The level of mRNA expression of hexokinase-2, PFKFB-4, PFKFB-3, PFKL, PFKP, LDHA and PFKM depends on the function of ERN1, the major signaling enzyme of endoplasmic reticulum stress. It was shown, that the level of mRNA expression of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase does not change in glioma cells with suppressed function of the enzyme ERN1, while hypoxia significantly reduces the expression of this gene, but only in cells with suppressed function of the enzyme ERN1.
