The object of research is the process of determining the thickness made of materials with a significant attenuation of the ultrasonic pulse-echo method. The subject of this study is the method of statistical phase ultrasonic thickness made of materials with a significant attenuation of ultrasonic vibrations on the basis of analysis of the phase characteristics of the signals. First proposed method of phase ultrasonic thickness based on a statistical analysis of the phase characteristics of the signals. Justified the use of time windows for signal processing ultrasonic thickness. First proposed a new information sign for ultrasonic thickness - spot the resulting length of the vector. First suggested to choose the decision threshold of a echo and assess the likelihood of their identification by the analysis of a sample of the resultant vector length. First proposed to estimate the signal /noise ratio at the output of the phase detector signals for non-energy ultrasonic thickness characterization.
