Object of research - oak stands of Central Polissia of Ukraine. Purpose - to establish the current state of oak forests of Central Polissia, identifying the causes drying of oak trees, and the factors that cause it, working on proposals to improve the environmental sustainability of oak stands. Research methods - forest-inventory; silvicultural; soil science; soil toxicology; mycology, microbiology and plant pathology; mathematical and statistical. Scientific novelty - for central Woodlands conditions set drying oak of varying intensity on the territory of 16 forest enterprises. Shrinkage was recorded on an area of 15,7 thousand hectares, accounting for 12,4% of the oak forests of the region. The largest share of area drying oakery area refers to the planting of seed origin - 38,7%; found that various pathogenic species complex of healthy and sick oak trees comprising 30 species micromycetes. Investigated that the increased acidity of soils drying oak stands (pH = 4,0-4,7) causes an increase in the content of mobile forms of aluminum to abnormally high concentrations harmful to woody plants. The lands identified as high content of mobile forms of manganese in concentrations capable to disrupt absorption by plants physiologically important macro- and micronutrients; found that the exchange of iron alone can not cause weakening of oak trees, but its mobile forms are able to complement the harmful effect of aluminum and manganese. Practical value - the results of the studies used in the course of forest management in the oak forests of state forestry enterprises Zhytomyr region. Area of application: forestry.
