Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the study of the influence of modification conditions, the nature and supported methods of active components on the physico-chemical properties of activated carbon KAU. It was shown that the XPS data well recreate the results of chemical analysis to determine the number of functional groups on the carbon surface (correlation coefficient of 0.90 -0.95), with the first of the methods to fix them at low levels, in contrast to Boehm titration. It was found that a rise of thermal modification temperature of activated carbon in an inert atmosphere allows to increase its catalytic activity in selective oxidation of hydrogen sulfide reactions more than 2.5 times in comparison with the initial sample. Cobalt-modified activated carbon can be successfully used in the process of low temperature oxidation of CO, as well as when it is removed from the gas mixtures with excess hydrogen in them.
