Essay

Investigated the Soviet national policy towards the Polish population of Western Ukraine and Western Belarus in 1944 - 1946. The paper also determines the main directions of Soviet policy and practical measures of party leadership, which included the elimination of the remnants of the Polish state. Substantial attention is paid to coverage of the course of resettlement of Poles from the western regions of Ukraine and Belarus to Poland. It is found that immigration action 1944 - 1946 caused significant ethno-national and ethno-confessional changes in the specified areas and made a noticeable impact on reducing the social base of the Polish armed forces and the underground, the elimination of the Roman Catholic Church and the Polish school system, help to speed up the sovietization processes.
