Essay

This thesis deals with the development of processes and devices providing for gaseous fuel savings by utilizing the heat of the combustion products in the high-temperature furnaces. A comparative analysis of the heat recovery efficiency using the centralized heat exchangers and decentralized heat recovery systems was performed. The new designs of high-temperature heat recovery units, i.e. a tubular heat exchanger fitted with inserts, i.e. secondary emitters inside the pipes, for furnaces at the rolling mills in the steel industry, and a high-performance two-way radiation-convection heat exchanger (RRD) for heating and heat treatment furnaces in engineering were proposed. Based on experimental and numerical studies, the benefits of the proposed designs of recuperators were determined in comparison with foreign and domestic analogues.
