Essay

The thesis is aimed at increasing tribosystem durability of internal combustion engines using engine oil with an assessment of their quality. Basic vegetable oils to produce motor oils with high oleic acid content were selected. The composition and percentage range of additives in selected basic vegetable oils were grounded. Experimental studies have established that vegetable oils with additives for medium loads have lower indexes of wear rate. The dependences of microhardness change of friction surfaces on the depth of riveted on layer were obtained and based on an analysis which found that vegetable oils with additives contribute to the manifestation of Rebinder's effect and have a greater zoom range of microhardness while reducing the depth of riveted on layer. Dimensionless criterion of motor oil quality for two-stroke engines, which is an integral feature of anti-wear, extreme pressure and anti-friction properties, was theoretically reasoned and obtained on the basis of dimensional analysis.
